OBX Contest Report

The 2006 ESKA Spring Circuit is complete!
We had a great contest at the Outer Banks this past weekend, made possible by Kitty Hawk Kites in Nags Head.
Huge thanks to the KHK crew and ESPECIALLY Doug Banjak. We appreciate the support, and we could not of done this contest without you.
Many of us rolled into town on Friday afternoon and took advantage of some good conditions. We got a few hours of clean, medium sized, swell, with some large sets rolling in from time to time.
We always dig having a contest in OBX, because it is such a cool place. We look forward to holding the Nationals there this september.
Saturday started with some foreboding storm clouds, giving way to beautiful sunshine. The waves were really nice, not huge, but really nicely shaped and very clean. Everyone was all smiles as we prepared to start the event.
The event ran smoothly, and we thank the judges and tabulators for a job well done.
Particularly fierce was the Men's IC final, featuring 5 of the East's top competitors. It was a very close heat, reflected by the scored being separated by tenths of a point.
We were excited to have a few heats of beginner open, and we hope the competitors in this class will come back for more events in the future.
Men's High Performance was strongyl contested throughout the day, culminating in a win for Charles Salters, his first ever Men's HP finish! We've had a different winner in Men's HP at each event this spring, so the rankings are going to be interesting!
The after party hosted at Kitty Hawk Kites was nice, and the bar-b-Q was very good.
We look forward to future events in the OBX area, and continuing our relationship with Kitty Hawk Kites.
If you are interested in learning to kiteboard, or hang glide, or need to rent kayaks, consider giving Kitty Hawk Kites a visit. They are very nice folks and can be reached at www.kittyhawkkites.com
I just want to thank everyone for their support of the ESKA Spring circuit. I sincerely hope that everyone enjoyed the events, and I hope we have a good turn out for the fall circuit. We hope to have 5-7 events in the fall. Thanks to everyone who helped this spring, and see you soon!
